As a follow up to an article posted in August of 2008 concerning an animal shelter for the Quepos area of Costa Rica we would like to offer the following updates.
The need for an Animal Shelter still exists. We are still searching for a better life for domestic animals in our area. Amigos de los Animales has carried on for years helping our pet population and now a non-profit Costa Rica Association has been formed to help the cause, PAWS.
This group comes from the Quepos/Matapalo Ladies Group and is dedicated to building an Animal Shelter in our area. We have just launched our website and urge you to take a look and help if you can. Go to www.paws.cr. We also have a Face Book page and would welcome you as our friend.
We will continue to help with spay/neuter clinics on a regular basis to curb the growth of our pet population and will soon be offering educational information to our school children on the need to be responsible pet owners. We also will continue to place animals for adoption and foster care when possible.
