More than four years ago, the city of Quepos/Manuel Antonio signed a Sister Cities Protocol with the City of Fort Lauderdale. Harry Bodaan, owner of La Mansion Inn, currently serves as Sister Cities International Quepos Chairman. He also serves as Special Assistant to the Mayor of Quepos, Oscar Monge, as the liaison between him and the Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Jim Naugle.
Harry Bodaan has been instrumental in the formation of the Quepos Special Task Force, and the creation of more than a dozen different volunteer committees. The committees range from Water Rescue (Life Guards) to Arts and Cultural, Education, Fraternal Order Of Police, Humane Society, etc. Other key SCI Quepos volunteer is Cornelius Mesen. The group is currently working toward integrating all volunteer efforts into a solid operational program for Quepos and Fort Lauderdale to be an officially recognized pairing in the Sister Cities International organization.
